Love So Amazing E62 min read
The most surprising of the events, her family had started attending church services. All these were strange to Deola, she could not understand what all the God-talk was about and why the drastic change in her parents and her siblings. Shortly before she returned for her last year in junior school, her parents announced that they were moving to their new apartment in Ikeja, Lagos which had been fully paid for and furnished. ‘Fully paid!’, Deola thought to herself. It was too good to be true; she was almost tempted to start believing all their God-talk. She knew how hard it had been for her father to pay the rent for the mini-flat and also to pay their tuitions.
On returning to her former environment and her same friends, she soon fell back into her old routine and totally forgot about the God-talk. Time went by and she was done with her secondary school education. She knew her whole family had been praying for her for years but she was not ready to accept all the God-talk. Her siblings might not remember but she could not forget every struggle her family went through. After all, she was the first child of her father’s immediate family and the memories of the struggles were ever hurting and hunting. When she gained admission into the University of Ibadan, she was so glad to be away from her family and their constant God-talk. She was going to be by herself: free to live life as she wished but to her dismay, the God-talk followed her to Ibadan in the person of Kate Osagie.
The presence of Kate Osagie did not feel like Deola’s life was been threatened; Kate was a new element to the mix she found herself. Kate was like the sister of her age she had always wished for. She hardly talked so much about God rather, she showed her God’s love through her actions. She knew there were several times she was really nasty to Kate but Kate never repaid her ‘evil for evil’ instead she loved her even more. It all felt totally confusing to her and she knew she was about to lose the fight of six and half years.
