Love So Amazing E43 min read
It was indeed an awesome time in His presence and she could see that Deola was struggling not to shed tears. The worship session drew to an end and it was time to rearrange the chairs to sit in a circle. The sitting arrangement usually happened on Tuesdays that were dedicated to the study of His Word. The day’s study was based on John 3:16, ‘God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die’ .The youth pastor started the study with a word of prayer asking that the Lord open their eyes of understanding and make their hearts a fertile ground for His Word to germinate. After the prayer, the youth pastor asked if anyone had any testimony to share. A young lady Deola knew facially from general lectures, raised her hand and asked if she could share hers.
She started by thanking the fellowship for their love and support. She was sure that she would not have come this far without their constant presence and follow-up. She was especially grateful for how the Lord helped her through her grieving period. She reminded the group that she had lost her mother last month and she thought it was going to be the end of the road for her; since she was very close to her mother. She had days that she could not understand why God did not heal her mother of her aliment. She had days that she had no desire to pray or sing praises to God because she felt there was no point. All she wanted to do was just sleep and never wake up again: so that she could join her mother where she was. She could not come to terms with her mother’s death because she had so much faith that her mother would be healed. She prayed, fasted and praised but none of these actions stopped her mother from leaving this Earth. Up until two weeks ago, she was living as one that was just floating. People came to visit and kept saying different things. Some came: prayed and quoted from the Bible but none of these people could bring back the joy she once felt.
It was through the love the fellowship showed, she gradually came back to the feet of her Master and wept. No one from the Chosen Generation fellowship preached at her. No one from the fellowship told her that she would soon get over it. All they did was to be there for her, even when she snapped and screamed. Days that she cried and never wanted to stop; they simply showed God’s love through their actions. Some of the members actually went out of their ways to contact all her lecturers so that they could ensure that she did not lose marks as a result of missing assignments or tests. They were really wonderful to her. She was indeed grateful to be a member of the fellowship.
When the young lady was done, she had tears running down her face again but with a big smile and a light shining so brightly through her eyes. Those closest to her, reached for her and squeezed her palms while some gave her side hugs. Deola could not fathom the magnitude of love she was experiencing within the fellowship. While she was still pondering on the experience, she turned to her side and saw Kate smiling at her. It was then she realised that Kate was indeed ‘normal’ in this circle of people, ‘the Christians’. ‘How I wish I could express such love and also accept such love’, Deola thought to herself with a sad smile on her face.
