The Martins were one of the popularly known families in the city of Lagos. They had two children and their dream had always been to hand over the family business to their first son Kolapo after he finished from the University where he studied Business Technology. The family stood for integrity and everything that was morally right but practiced no religion. They never denied that there was a God but felt no need to get involved in any of the religious bodies as long as they did everything that was morally right including helping the needy around their vicinity. They were also heavily involved in anything related to charity.
It was a rude shock to everyone when Kolapo informed the family he had decided to enrol in the Nigerian army after he finished from the University; he was not even going to bother with the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) since he had processed all that was needed while he was in school. For weeks, his parents could not come to terms with the decision their son had made. His father began to worry about who would take over his empire while his mother feared that her only son would be killed in his new line of interest. These fears were barely three years ago and his family had finally come to accept his position as an army officer. The acceptance was not the greatest part of it; when he was relocated to Jaji from Lagos, they had to find comfort in someone who would grant them assurance that Kolapo was going to be okay and that was when their search for a higher being began.
