Worship and the life of a worshipper
Worship has been perceived as many things:
- A time to sing slow songs
- A time to get solemn
- A time to get into a very spiritual mood
- A period we experience the feeling of total connection
- A time to get so emotional that one could almost mistake it for been high as a result of an influence from a drug.
Worship means much more than that! It involves connecting with God, that is the very essence of our being.
Worship truly is:
- A way of life
- A part of us
- It is what speaks and reflects whenever we move
- It is an intimate relationship with God
A worshipper is someone who lives a life of worship. Before one can be called a worshipper,
- You must have been born again.
- You must have an intimacy with God.
Intimacy with God involves God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit- the Holy Trinity. Intimacy is achieved when there is a relationship and this does not happen suddenly. It takes a disciplined approach of a continuous process of getting to KNOW which results in a dedicated period of finding out and which eventually leads to loving God.
The next question is probably how we get to know God. This done through His word. The more of His word we read, the more we get to know and the more His Spirit reveals the secret things of the Most High to us.
God loved us first and longs for a relationship with us. He wants us to be His friend and lover. He wants to commune with us. The more of His word we have on our inside the more His Spirit dwells in us and the more we become like Him; the more we get to know Him and love Him.
The Lord is looking for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. That means those who have been intoxicated by Him and are drunk with His Spirit. The Lord seeks those that will forget about themselves and will remember that it is all about Him; those who realise that without Him, they can do nothing.
What will it cost us to know and love the Lord? Just denying the flesh which if we allow to dominate us will eventually lead to our destruction. It is better we enjoy His love and benefits.
The Lord seeks a worshipper. Will you be the one He is looking for? Will you be souled out for Him? Remember He first LOVED you and still LOVES you very much.
