Thursday’s Socials Ei
She knew people had started calling her all sorts of names and they were beginning to get to her. Everywhere she turned had her feeling like she was been mocked. For days, people had been asking if she was going to attend Thursday’s activity; senior Tejiri asked her the same question before she was handed the uniforms. Her reply was always a blank stare with a pounding heart. Her greatest fear was her family, not even the gossip that would generate; she knew what would be done to her if she tried to attend.
At that point, she was not sure if she cared what they would do to her if she attended. After all, she would have seen for herself what such activities looked like and felt like but on the other hand, she was the secretary of the Christian fellowship, what testimony would her attendance give?
Kome knew that she really did not care about anyone anymore; not family and definitely not the people of Asaba High School. For once, she wanted to do something for herself without any external influences but did she really know what that was anymore? She had lived so long for other people. She definitely had to make a decision before Thursday else her pounding heart would not let her be.
To be continued…
